As a tourist attraction, Lakeland Miniature Village was owned and run by husband and wife team Edward and Kathleen Robinson who actually live on the premises.
The miniature village was situated in the charming village of Flookburgh, just a short distance from nearby Grange-over-Sands.
In total, over one hundred Lake District landmarks had been painstakingly recreated as a miniature village, crafted entirely from local slate sourced from quarries at Hodge Close, Coniston and Elterwater.
Highlights included scaled models of Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top, the Bridge House at Ambleside, Townend Farmhouse in Troutbeck, the Bradley Clock in Windermere, and Yew Tree Farm near Coniston.
We expect this miniature village may be relocated to Ambleside but we will keep you updated on that when we find out more.
All of the buildings and features in the miniature village were handcrafted by Edward Robinson, who spent thousands of hours, since 1992, creating these perfectly scaled models.
Rarely using any kind of scale drawings much of the designs came from his head.
Edward used hammer, adhesive, sand, cement and a special chisel to faithfully recreate every detail of the buildings. A true labour of love!
